Roger Johansson Appointed Vice President of GM Powertrain Europe

PONTIAC, Mich. – Roger Johansson has been appointed vice president of GM Powertrain Europe. Johansson, 39, will report to Tom Stephens, group vice president, GM Powertrain and Fritz Henderson, chairman of GM Europe. The appointment is effective October 1. “Roger’s leadership capability and ability to resolve difficult issues within a matrix management structure is a tremendous asset,” said Stephens. “He has significant experience in purchasing powertrain components, as well as with working with powertrain suppliers.”
Johansson joined GM in 1991 as a buyer at Saab Automotive. In 1993 he moved to Adam Opel where he held positions of increasing responsibility in Purchasing. In 2000 he was appointed director, Purchasing Metallic Components for the Fiat GM Purchasing joint venture; and in 2002 Johansson was promoted to General Executive Director of Fiat GM Worldwide Purchasing in Ruesselsheim, Germany.

In 2004 Johansson was named vice president of GM Europe Purchasing and Supply Chain.

He has a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Nils Ericssons THS Trollhattan, Sweden and a master’s degree in business administration from Gothenburg Business School in Gothenburg, Sweden.

A replacement for Johansson will be announced later.
